Chigger Remedy – Recipe for My Bug Bite Treatment

chigger mite

This is my all-natural recipe for chigger bites. It soothes and eliminate itching and pain from chigger bites and mosquito bites.

If you’ve ever been bit by chiggers, you know what torment feels like. Even though my husband and I wear long socks and long pants, every summer we still end up with literally dozens of bites all over our legs and mid-section. Chigger bites (a type of tiny mite) itch like crazy and the itching gets worse with time.

After two summers of this, I decided enough was enough. I did some research and created my own chigger bite remedy to soothe and eliminate the itching. I don’t know that my concoction repels chiggers, although I don’t seem to be getting new bites lately.

My chigger remedy does relieve the itching and seems to make the itching stop faster. In other words, I only have to apply this concoction once or twice to each bite to get the itching to go away. This works equally well on mosquito bites too.

  • 2 Tablespoons Apple Cider Vinegar
  • 7 drops Lavender essential oil
  • 4 drops of Thyme essential oil
  • 4 drops of Roman Chamomile essential oil
  • 5 drops Basil essential oil
  • 4 drops of Melaleuca (aka Tea Tree) Oil

I mix this up and put it in a roll-on bottle and then just roll it on the bites after taking a shower. Use as needed to alleviate the itching. But like I said, I only put it on mine a couple days after getting out of the shower. You can also put it on as needed (doesn’t have to be after a shower).

You may smell like a pickle or some kind of herbal vinaigrette salad, but it’s better than itching to death.
